Only events that are clearly related to civic engagement, volunteer work, or civic participation in Berlin are posted on engagiertes.berlin.

  • Events related to volunteering, civic engagement, and civic participation
  • Opportunities for exchange, networking, and collaboration
  • Opportunities for participation and engagement
  • Recognition and appreciation initiatives for volunteers
  • Expert and strategy events in the context of civic engagement

The following are not included:

  • Events and programs that require a fee
  • Events that are purely promotional or sales-oriented
  • Commercial events with no connection to the public good
  • General recreational or cultural offerings unrelated to civic engagement
  • Content not relevant to Berlin or civic engagement

Kickoff for Civic Engagement Week 2026

The kickoff event marks the start of the 22nd Week of Civic Engagement. The focus is on this year’s theme, “Shaping the Future Together.” You can look forward to a panel discussion, examples of civic engagement, and the “Marketplace of Togetherness.” The event will take place at the Representative Office of the Free State of Thuringia to the Federal Government in Berlin.

What's it all about?

The event kicks off the 22nd Week of Civic Engagement. The focus is on the diversity, value, and impact of civic engagement, as well as this year’s theme, “Shaping the Future Together.”

What will be covered?

The event is open to anyone interested. The program includes a panel discussion on the annual theme, examples of civic engagement in practice, and a conversation with the 2026 Civic Engagement Ambassador. The “Market of Togetherness” provides a space for networking with active members of the community.

Organization & Participation

Participation is free of charge and requires registration. Space is limited. The event will take place at the Thuringian State Chancellery, the Free State of Thuringia’s Representative Office to the Federal Government, in Berlin. The event is organized by the Federal Network for Civic Engagement (BBE) in collaboration with the Thuringian State Chancellery.

Landesnetzwerk Bürgerengagement Berlin (LNBE)

The event addresses racism and discrimination in volunteer work among migrants. It will present qualitative research findings and the perspectives of migrants involved in volunteer work. The focus will be on barriers to volunteerism, the implications for democratic participation, and possible courses of action. Afterward, there will be time for exchange and discussion.
