Contributions to the District

In 2002, the Treptow-Köpenick District Office decided to establish a district honor, the “Citizen’s Medal of the Treptow-Köpenick District of Berlin.” It honors individuals in the district who have rendered outstanding service to the district through exceptional volunteer and civic engagement in various areas of society. These exemplary actions may have been long-term or, in some cases, short-term but equally outstanding. A jury of up to ten members from various sectors of the district’s public life selects up to three recipients annually. The district mayor and the chairperson of the Treptow-Köpenick District Assembly are ex officio members of the jury. The three selected individuals are honored with the presentation of the Citizens’ Medal by the Chair of the District Assembly and the District Mayor.
