Commitment to Equality and Respect

With the “Tempelhof-Schöneberg Queer Diversity Award,” the district annually honors residents who have shown exceptional commitment to equality and respect. The award is presented to individuals, organizations, or companies that advocate for the rights and concerns of queer communities and drive positive change. With this award, the district honors people who, through their dedication, creativity, and courage, have helped break down prejudices and create an open society. The commitment to queer diversity is a key pillar of social cohesion in the district. The commitment to diversity, respect, and tolerance toward lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans*, and intersex people, as well as other queer groups, are visible signs of a vibrant sense of community in Tempelhof-Schöneberg. The selection criteria include, among other things, lasting impact, innovative strength, role model status, originality of ideas, and political neutrality. For the jury’s decision, it is important that the nomination describes the commitment in detail. The award jury consists of four members of the Tempelhof-Schöneberg Queer Committee and the district’s Queer Representative.

The most recent award ceremony took place on June 13, 2025, at Schöneberg City Hall and was organized by the Volunteer Office in collaboration with the district’s Queer Liaison. The award came with a cash prize of 1,000 euros and was accompanied by a certificate.
