The German Neighborhood Award honors projects and initiatives that strengthen community life at the local level. The award seeks neighborhood projects from across Germany that bring people together and actively shape their communities. The award is presented annually and includes prizes at the state level as well as in five thematic categories. The prize money amounts to up to 5,000 euros.

The award recognizes projects and initiatives that promote vibrant neighborhoods, strengthen community bonds, and actively shape the local environment. Neighborhood initiatives and projects, clubs, community centers, nonprofit organizations, social enterprises, municipalities, as well as dedicated groups and informal coalitions are eligible to apply.

The award raises awareness of local engagement and supports projects that promote participation, bring people together, and strengthen community life. It honors projects that serve as role models and have a positive impact on the neighborhood. The German Neighborhood Award has been presented annually since 2017. Awards are given at the state level as well as in the categories of Generations, Culture & Sports, Sustainability, Public Space, and Diversity.
