Each year, the Berlin Nature Conservation Award honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to nature and the environment in Berlin. With this award, the Berlin Nature Conservation Foundation recognizes volunteer efforts that have a lasting impact and strengthen the city’s ecological well-being.

The Berlin Nature Conservation Award honors individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication and passion in their commitment to nature conservation in Berlin. Their efforts play a key role in making the city biodiverse, green, and a great place to live. Each year, the State of Berlin presents the award in the categories of “Individual” and “Institution .”

The Berlin Nature Conservation Award is endowed with 10,000 euros and is presented to individuals, groups, companies, or institutions whose work benefits nature conservation in Berlin. A lifetime achievement award is also possible.

Do you know anyone who should be honored for their outstanding commitment to nature conservation and environmental protection? Or would you like to nominate yourself? Nominations and applications can be submitted via the online form by January 31, 2026 . In the spring, the Board of Trustees of the Berlin Nature Conservation Foundation will select the award recipients, who will be honored in the summer of 2026 at a festive gala.

Eligible for the award are individuals or institutions that, through specific actions,

  • strengthen species or habitat conservation through concrete measures,
  • promote awareness and acceptance of nature conservation,
  • communicate nature conservation topics in a clear and accessible way to various target groups, or
  • implement innovative, exemplary nature conservation projects that inspire and encourage others to follow suit.
