Every year, the Berlin Senate awards the “Berlin Badge of Honor for Outstanding Social Commitment” to citizens who have rendered outstanding service. The award ceremony takes place in the fall. According to the rules of the Social Administration, the Badge of Honor is awarded to individuals who have volunteered for at least fifteen years in associations, organizations, and initiatives or in the care of others. All Berlin residents can nominate individuals. The nomination must include all personal information, such as first and last name, date of birth, occupation, and contact information, as well as a detailed explanation of why the person should be honored. A selection committee chooses the 12 individuals to be honored each year. You can submit your nominations directly using a form provided by the Senate Department for Integration, Labor, and Social Affairs.
