The 2026 LdE Elementary School Award recognizes how teachers and school administrators implement “Learning Through Engagement” in elementary schools—whether in the classroom or through school development. The award honors practical examples at every stage: from the initial idea to its firm integration into everyday school life. Elementary schools in challenging situations in selected federal states are eligible to apply.

The award recognizes initiatives and projects that use digital technologies in ways that enable more people to participate and that strengthen digital civic engagement and social cohesion in the digital space. The award supports programs that help people overcome digital exclusion, guide them as they enter the digital world , and foster a sense of community in the digital space.

The award recognizes initiatives and projects. Initiatives can apply for the People’s Choice Award; individuals can support a project that serves the public good by casting their vote.

Jury Prize: A jury comprising representatives from politics, civil society, business, and the media selects the winning project. 2026 Prize Sponsor: TÜV SÜD Foundation. 2026 Application Period: starting February 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
