Thematic Funds: Spielraum

Through its “Spielraum” thematic fund, the German Children’s Fund supports projects that renovate, expand, or make existing play areas in Germany more inclusive, as well as projects that develop new play areas. These include, for example, youth farms, adventure playgrounds, skateparks, facilities belonging to sports and recreational clubs, recreational and family centers, as well as daycare and school grounds. Purely material purchases are not eligible for funding. Children and adolescents must be involved in the creative planning and design.

Applications may be submitted by children and young people with the support of an adult, citizens’ initiatives, associations, operating foundations, and nonprofit organizations. Youth initiatives without legal status, student councils, and children’s and youth parliaments may submit an application in partnership with a nonprofit organization. Preference is given to smaller clubs without an umbrella organization. Up to €8,000 is available per project.
