The German Children’s Fund’s Media Literacy Thematic Fund supports projects in which children and adolescents learn to use media safely and critically—for example, to stay informed, raise awareness of their own concerns, or participate digitally. Children and adolescents should be involved as much as possible in the planning and implementation of these projects. Applications may be submitted by children and adolescents with the support of an adult, citizens’ initiatives, associations, operating foundations, and nonprofit organizations. Youth initiatives without legal status, student councils, and children’s and youth parliaments may receive funding through a partnership with a nonprofit organization. Preference is given to smaller associations without an umbrella organization. Depending on the project and funding plan, grants of up to €8,000 are available.
