The Tempelhof-Schöneberg District Council uses its special funds to support schools, clubs, citizens’ initiatives, and projects. Eligible for funding are, among other things, intercultural exchange programs, as well as gatherings, projects, and events in the areas of sports, social services, and culture—particularly those involving and benefiting children and young people. A prerequisite is that the organization is based in the district or that the project takes place there. Commercial enterprises are excluded. Funding generally amounts to a maximum of €2,000 and, as a rule, requires a minimum 20% contribution from the applicant. Only projects that have not yet begun are eligible for funding. The funds are intended exclusively as seed funding; regular or long-term funding is not provided. Registration in the State of Berlin’s transparency database is also required to submit an application.
