The “Auf Augenhöhe” Fund of the Software AG Foundation supports projects that strengthen civic engagement on behalf of refugees and immigrants and facilitate encounters on an equal footing. Funding is provided, for example, for initiatives in the arts, culture, sports, and media, as well as for counseling, training, self-organization, and empowerment.
Applications may be submitted by community foundations from throughout Germany that hold the seal of approval or have been deemed eligible for it. They may also submit projects from nonprofit partner organizations. In addition, cooperating Houses of Resources may act as intermediaries.
Up to €5,000 is available per project; for follow-up applications, up to €3,000. Up to 10 percent of the grant amount, with a maximum of €500, may be used for administrative costs. Among other things, the following are not eligible for funding: language courses alone, school-based initiatives, standard government benefits that are available on demand, and short-term projects without a lasting impact.
