About the Program
The “Climate Action Next Door” ideas competition supports projects that are implemented directly in residential neighborhoods and combine climate action with community building. We’re looking for accessible, neighborhood-based ideas that promote sustainable practices in everyday life and bring people together.
You can submit an idea that doesn’t have to be fully developed yet. During the application phase, the foundation will select several projects and award seed funding. Additionally, other ideas will be chosen through a public online vote. A jury will award supplemental grants for particularly compelling approaches.
Individuals, neighborhood groups, clubs, or nonprofit initiatives are eligible to participate. The key requirement is that the idea be implemented locally in the neighborhood and focus on community action.
Funding is provided, for example, for community gardens, repair initiatives, or local energy and mobility projects that protect the climate and strengthen social cohesion.
Timeframe : Annual ideas competition; submit your idea by June 14, 2026
Grant amount : up to €2,000 per idea (multi-stage funding)
Areas : Environment and sustainability, city and neighborhood, civic engagement and volunteerism
