BGZ – Social Cohesion

About the Program

The federal program “Social Cohesion – Local. Networked. Connected.” (BGZ) supports projects that improve coexistence in a diverse society. The goal is to enable participation, foster encounters, and strengthen local engagement.

Funding is provided for projects in which people with and without a migration background come together, take action together, and build trust. These projects may include joint activities, participatory formats, or programs designed to build skills.

You can submit an application if you are part of a nonprofit organization, such as an association, federation, foundation, or local government. The projects are aimed at young people and adults aged 12 and older, particularly those with a background in migration or integration.

Funding is awarded through an annual call for expressions of interest. In addition to financial support, the program also offers training, consulting, and networking opportunities for project organizers.

Timeframe : annual call for proposals (usually in the spring)
Funding amount : up to €70,000 per year, for a maximum of 36 months
Areas : Democracy and participation, migration and diversity, civic engagement and volunteerism

The deadline for expressions of interest is June 30, 2026.
