About the Program
Through the Youth Culture Initiative, the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion supports projects by Berlin cultural institutions that more actively involve young people in the arts and culture. The goal is to strengthen cultural education and make it easier for young people to access artistic work and cultural offerings—especially in socially disadvantaged neighborhoods.
Funding is provided for projects in which cultural institutions collaborate with young people to develop new formats or further refine existing programs. The goal is also to transform these institutions over the long term so that cultural education is given greater priority.
Eligible applicants are publicly funded cultural institutions offering public programs within the purview of the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion. Projects are selected based on a jury vote.
The funded institutions will also receive consulting, process support, and networking opportunities through the Berlin Mondiale framework program. The lessons learned from the projects will also be made available to other cultural actors in Berlin.
