Berlin State Network for Civic Engagement (LNBE) – Learn, Strengthen, Connect

Berlin thrives on civic engagement: on initiatives that strengthen neighborhoods; on organizations that carry out cultural, social, or environmental work; and on the many dedicated individuals who contribute day after day. For this engagement to remain effective and continue to grow, it requires reliable structures, dialogue, and knowledge. This is exactly where the Berlin State Network for Civic Engagement (LNBE) comes in.

The LNBE is a key network for civic engagement and civil society in Berlin. It brings together organizations, initiatives, government agencies, and policymakers who want to strengthen civic engagement in the capital. The network sees itself as a voice on policy issues, a platform for exchange, and a catalyst for a civically engaged city. The LNBE’s goal is to improve the conditions for civic engagement, connect existing structures, and highlight the diversity of Berlin’s civic engagement landscape.

To strengthen civic engagement in the long term, we need places where knowledge can be shared and further developed—and that is exactly what the Civil Society Learning Center offers. The Learning Center is a program of the LNBE and serves as a space for training, exchange, and professional development within Berlin’s civic engagement sector.

It offers events, workshops, and learning formats aimed at associations, projects, initiatives, and other civil society actors. Topics range from organizational development and volunteer management to funding, diversity, and collaboration with government agencies.

All programs are free of charge and open to anyone interested.

A key component of the learning center is its advisory services. These are aimed specifically at smaller initiatives, associations, and organizations that work with volunteers—and offer them a service that is unique in Berlin.

These one-on-one consultations are conducted by experts from the network and are specifically designed to provide what small organizations need most: knowledge, guidance, and professional support.

Typical topics covered in the consultations include:
