The Volunteer Award honours individuals or teams who have made a special voluntary contribution to the common good in the Mitte district. Since 2003, the Ehrenamtspreis of the Bezirksamt Mitte has been awarded to honour civic engagement and, above all, the people who work voluntarily and unpaid for their fellow human beings. The award winners are selected by a jury consisting of the District Councillor for Social Affairs and Citizen Services, representatives of the parliamentary groups of the District Assembly and employees of the Volunteer Office. The Volunteer Award is presented annually in the second half of the year at a thank-you event for volunteers from the Mitte district office.
