Treptow-Köpenick District Office
In 2002, the Treptow-Köpenick district office decided to create a district badge of honour, the "Citizen Medal of the Treptow-Köpenick District of Berlin". It is an honour for personalities of the district who have rendered outstanding services to the district through outstanding voluntary and civic commitment in various areas of society. The honourable actions may have been outstanding in the long term or, in individual cases, in the short term. A jury of up to ten members from various areas of public life in the district selects up to three recipients each year. The district mayor and the head of the Treptow-Köpenick district council are ex officio members of the jury. The three selected persons are honoured by the presentation of the citizens' medal by the head of the district assembly and the district mayor.
