The Roman Herzog Prize honours engagement projects from Berlin that use innovative ideas to strengthen social cohesion . The award is aimed at initiatives and projects that combine commitment and entrepreneurial spirit and can act as a role model beyond Berlin. For natural persons aged 18 and over, associations, foundations or companies based or active in Berlin.
The award strengthens the visibility of civic engagement in Berlin and promotes ideas that show solidarity, initiative and innovative solutions to social challenges and thus promote social cohesion in the city.
Berliner Sparkasse awards the prize annually; the application deadline is usually 31 May of the respective year. A board of trustees decides on the award winners.
