Proposals can be submitted to the representative for people with disabilities by telephone or in writing (preferably by e-mail). The proposal must describe the volunteer work. In a personal interview between the representative and the nominee, details about the person and the voluntary work are requested. A jury, which also includes members of the Advisory Board for People with Disabilities, selects the award winners. The award is presented by the mayor and the commissioner as part of the "Reinickendorf Forum for People with Disabilities". A laudatory speech is given and the award winners receive a gift.
