The Commissioner for Civic Engagement in cooperation with the Queer Commissioner of the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district
Every year, the district honours citizens who are particularly committed to equality and respect with the "Queer Diversity Award in Tempelhof-Schöneberg". The prize is awarded to individuals, organisations or companies that stand up for the rights and concerns of queer communities and drive positive change. With this award, the district honours people who have contributed to breaking down prejudices and creating an open society through their commitment, creativity and courage. Commitment to queer diversity is an important pillar of social cohesion in the district. The commitment to diversity, respect and tolerance towards lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans* and intersex people as well as other queer groups are visible signs of a vibrant community in Tempelhof-Schöneberg. The selection criteria include sustainable impact, innovative strength, role model function, originality of the ideas and party-political neutrality. For the jury's decision, it is important that the proposal describes the commitment in detail. The jury for the award consists of four members of the Tempelhof-Schöneberg Queer Committee and the district's queer representative. The award ceremony will take place on 13 June 2025 at 6 pm in Schöneberg Town Hall and is planned by the Volunteer Office in cooperation with the Queer Representative. The prize is endowed with prize money of 1,000 euros and will also be awarded with a certificate. Proposals must be sent to the Volunteer Office by 12 May 2025 with detailed reasons.
