Every year, the district honours citizens who have helped the general public through their exceptional, outstanding and sustainable achievements with a medal of merit. They have been involved in social, cultural or economic activities in Tempelhof-Schöneberg. The award particularly honours voluntary and honorary commitment. The voluntary work should always be sustainable. The criterion for sustainability is a period of at least eight years. The sustainability requirement may be waived in the case of outstanding achievements (e.g. rescuing people in mortal danger).
