The award recognises outstanding voluntary work in the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district that helps others and strengthens the community. The purpose is to make people, groups and projects visible and to publicly thank them for their voluntary work, thus recognising long-term voluntary commitment.
The Medal of Merit is aimed at committed individuals with many years of service . The sponsorship prize can be awarded to individuals, groups, associations or initiatives that have made an exemplary contribution to the community.
The prize is awarded as an open competition; proposals with reasons are accepted by the District Office's Volunteer Office. The patron is the incumbent district mayor.
