The prize makes visible and recognises how primary schools shape learning through commitment - in the classroom or in school development.
The competition is aimed at primary schools in challenging situations in: Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein and Thuringia.
Learning through engagement is intended to enable primary school children to strengthen basic skills, take responsibility and experience self-efficacy . The prize emphasises examples that implement this form of learning from the initial idea to its consolidation in everyday school life.
Prize categories: €4×1,500 for LdE lessons and €2×2,000 for embedding LdE. The winners will be announced after the jury meeting in April 2026. The awards ceremony is expected to take place in June in the respective federal state.
