The Data Protection Media Prize is about how the media can make the complex world of data protection understandable for people. Contributions should explain why data protection is important and how to use your data securely. The award aims to highlight media formats that explain data protection issues in a clear way and thereby strengthen the secure handling of personal data. The award is intended to increase public interest in data protection.
You can take part as a film or media maker, journalist, creative person or as part of an initiative, youth group or organisation - if you have created a contribution related to data protection. Schools can also submit entries.
The competition runs annually. Entries can be submitted by email or post. The prize is supported by privacy4people gGmbH, DATEV-Stiftung Zukunft, Deutscher Spendenrat and klicksafe.
The tender for 2026 is not yet online.
