Citizens who have rendered outstanding services to the district or its residents are honoured with the district's certificate of honour. People who live or work in Lichtenberg are honoured for special achievements in the areas of politics, business, social affairs, culture, sport, charity or education. People who have particularly promoted the reputation of the district on a national or international level can also be honoured. The certificate of honour is awarded on the recommendation of the district office, the district council, clubs, civic associations, social organisations and associations as well as individuals. The decision on the award is made by the district office. The district mayor presents the certificates to the honourees.
