With the Berlin Business Award, the Governing Mayor and the Berlin Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) jointly honour the social commitment of companies. It honours companies that, together with their employees, take on social responsibility and make a long-term commitment to Berlin beyond their core business - through financial, material or personnel support. The prize is awarded in three categories: to companies with up to nine employees, with ten to 150 employees and with more than 150 employees. Three companies from each category are selected for the award ceremony. The main prize in each category is endowed with €3,000. The other two finalists in each category also receive €1,000 each.
