What is it about?

Berlin supports projects that strengthen exchange and cooperation with international partner cities. The aim is to fill existing city partnerships with life, provide new impetus and promote international dialogue at civil society level.

Temporary projects with a clear international connection and recognisable benefits for Berlin are supported. The projects should facilitate encounters, co-operation or understanding and have a lasting effect.

Application

The project exposés must be submitted by 8 March 2026

by email

A total of 4 A4 pages must be submitted, consisting of:

  • Project description (content, objectives, target groups, stakeholders, international reference, Berlin reference; approx. 2.5 pages)
  • Timetable (approx. 0.5 page)
  • Cost and financing plan (approx. 1 page)

What is supported?

Funding is available for projects that can be clearly assigned to an official Berlin city partnership. These include, for example

  • Exchange and meeting formats
  • Joint project activities with partner cities
  • Cooperation projects between several associations or organisations

Funding is generally provided as partial funding . In addition to the obligatory own contribution, other partners and third-party funds can be involved.

Who can submit an application?

Berlin associations, initiatives and organisations outside the administration are eligible to apply. Several organisations can implement a project together.

Important: For each project, one organisation must be the lead organisation and submit the application as a representative.
